Update on BANG! availability for Christmas

We have all been pleasantly surprised that our BANG! book has been so well received, and that the demand has been so huge around the UK.

This is great news on the one hand, but we, and especially our publishers, have been caught a little unawares by the rush, and we have had to take special measures to make sure we don’t disappoint anyone.

The lenticular (exploding fireball movie!) prints, which adorn the covers of our first run of books, have proved very popular, but are time-consuming to produce, since they have to be assembled by hand. Carlton’s initial order of this edition was essentially used up supplying the shops last week, and we all realised that there was just no way we could meet the demand for Christmas using this cover.

There are some more Lenticulars heading out there this week, but to ensure there are enough copies for the Christmas period, we have created a special rush edition of BANG! for a limited time only, with a non-lenticular cover (still artistically rather splendid, we think!), which can be manufactured in time to reach the shops in the next month or so. We apologise in advance if this causes any confusion!

However, the up-side is … if you are planning on buying many extra copies as perfect Christmas presents for Dads, Mums, children or grandchildren, you now have a choice!

If you LOVE the lenticular ‘movie’ cover, you could always specify this in the shops - they may be able to find the odd one or two they are hiding in the back! Or you could order it right now from our own BANG! On-Line Shop, where we can promise to discriminate between editions, and if necessary will fulfill the orders when the lenticulars come back into stock.

ALTERNATIVELY, you can just plunge straight in and get your instant BANG! fix from your local shop – and maybe get BOTH versions! The strange thing is that the non-lenticular one may in the future turn out to be the rare item, because, after this run, there are no more copies planned with this format.

One thing we can guarantee: the content of Bang! The Complete History of the Universe, which has already delighted thousands of people – remains unchanged whichever edition you choose.
